Youssoufa Moukoko Makes Permanent Move to FC Copenhagen

Copenhagen, June 28, 2025 – FC Copenhagen have officially signed 20‑year‑old striker Youssoufa Moukoko from Borussia Dortmund on a permanent five‑year deal, following his successful medical. The transfer fee is reported as €5 million, with an additional €2 million in performance-related bonuses.
Once heralded as a prodigious talent—breaking records in Dortmund’s youth ranks with 141 goals in 88 U17 and U19 matches—Moukoko debuted impressively at just 16, becoming the Bundesliga’s youngest-ever player and goalscorer, as well as the youngest in UEFA Champions League history.

Despite featuring in 99 first-team games and scoring 18 goals across all competitions, Moukoko struggled to become a regular starter at Dortmund. A loan to OGC Nice in 2024–25 yielded only 22 appearances, 2 goals, and 2 assists, failing to trigger the club’s €17 million purchase option.

Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl and youth development director Lars Ricken expressed their ongoing support for the striker. Kehl acknowledged that Moukoko’s development had plateaued, while Ricken emphasized his foundational role within Dortmund’s academy and extended well-wishes for his future.

From Moukoko’s perspective, the move marks a new beginning. He conveyed mixed emotions—gratitude and sentiment for Dortmund, paired with optimism and determination to reignite his career in Copenhagen.

For FC Copenhagen, securing Moukoko represents a significant milestone. The Danish champions hope to harness his pace, technical ability, and untapped promise to strengthen their bid for Champions League qualification.
