Nigerian Star Burna Boy Surprises Sarina Wiegman at Lionesses’ Euro 2025 Trophy Parade
Nigerian music icon Burna Boy delivered an unforgettable moment at the Lionesses’ Euro 2025 victory parade when he surprised head coach Sarina Wiegman with a live performance in front of Buckingham Palace.

The unexpected appearance came as the England squad celebrated their second consecutive UEFA Women’s Euro title, following a dramatic penalty shootout win over Spain in Basel. With over 65,000 fans gathered along The Mall in central London, the parade was filled with emotional speeches, music, and historic celebration—but Burna Boy’s arrival stole the show.

As he stepped on stage and launched into his hit song “For My Hand”—Wiegman's most-played track of 2023—Wiegman was visibly stunned. She gasped, raised her arms in disbelief, and broke into dance before embracing the Grammy-winning artist. The moment was especially poignant given Wiegman's usual reserved nature during previous celebrations.

“I like his music, but I totally didn’t expect him, so it was such a surprise,” Wiegman said after the event, calling the performance “incredible.”

Hosted by former Lioness Alex Scott, the celebration also featured performances by Heather Small, whose song “Proud” has become an anthem for the team. Captain Leah Williamson gave an emotional speech reflecting on the team’s journey and the pride they feel in inspiring a nation.

Wiegman, now a three-time European champion—once with the Netherlands and twice with England—embraced the joy of the day, dancing and celebrating alongside her squad.

Beyond the festivities, the Lionesses’ continued success is making a lasting impact. Since their 2022 victory, over 1,500 new girls’ football teams have been registered across England, and support for the women’s game continues to grow.
