Ademola Lookman Skips Training as He Pushes for Atalanta Exit After Inter Milan Bids Rejected

Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman opted to skip the club’s training session on Monday as he seeks to force his exit from the club after the rejection of two bids from Inter Milan.

The Nigerian international has formally submitted a transfer request, accusing Atalanta of reneging on earlier assurances that he could move if a “fair” offer materialized. He reportedly feels that previous verbal agreements have not been honored, and has publicly expressed frustration over what he characterizes as “broken promises” and “poor treatment” both as a player and a person.

Reports indicate that Inter’s latest offer amounted to around €42 million plus €3 million in add-ons, but Atalanta rejected it, maintaining their valuation closer to €50 million and reaffirming their stance against selling to another Italian club.

Lookman’s actions have escalated the standoff: he has not reported to team training, erased references to Atalanta from his social media profiles, and issued an emotional public statement on platform X (formerly Twitter), talking about his gratitude to fans and a desire for an amicable resolution, while also making it clear that “enough is enough.”

Having joined Atalanta in 2022, Lookman has impressed with 52 goals and 25 assists in 118 appearances, highlighted by a Europa League final hat-trick in May 2024 and earning African Footballer of the Year honors.

As of now, the situation remains unresolved. Atalanta appear committed to enforcing his existing contract until 2027 if necessary, and Lookman is pressing for either a transfer to Inter or a resolution that satisfies all parties involved.
