Chelsea’s Tyrique George Considering Exit Amid Bundesliga Interest in Search of Regular Playing Time

Chelsea academy graduate Tyrique George has reportedly expressed a desire to leave Stamford Bridge this summer in pursuit of more consistent first-team football, amid growing interest from Bundesliga clubs.
George, who joined Chelsea as an under-8, has emerged as one of the club’s top young prospects. In the 2023–24 season, he stood out with 12 goals and six assists for the Under-18s before earning a spot in the Under-21 side and eventually a call-up to the senior team. He signed a new contract in June 2024, extending his stay at the club until 2027.

The winger made his senior debut in August 2024 in the Europa Conference League under head coach Enzo Maresca and quickly caught attention. He scored his first senior goal in a European quarter-final in April 2025, followed by his first Premier League goal in a 2–1 win over Fulham. George finished the season with 26 senior appearances, three goals, and five assists, playing a part in Chelsea’s successful Conference League and Club World Cup campaigns.

His performances earned praise from fellow professionals, with Jadon Sancho describing him as “humble” with immense potential, while Noni Madueke highlighted his talent as “through the roof.”

Despite his strong debut season, George faces increased competition for playing time following Chelsea’s summer acquisitions, including Estevao Willian and Jamie Gittens, along with reported interest in Alejandro Garnacho. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, George has now informed Chelsea of his desire to leave this month to secure regular first-team opportunities. Bundesliga sides RB Leipzig and Borussia Mönchengladbach are said to be leading the race for his signature.

While Chelsea would prefer to retain the winger, they are reportedly open to either a loan or permanent move, as long as any deal includes sell-on or buy-back clauses to protect the club’s long-term interests.

George’s next move will likely depend on whether Chelsea can offer him sufficient playing time or facilitate a strategic exit that allows him to continue his development elsewhere.
