Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has publicly addressed his exclusion from the squad, following head coach Luis Enrique’s decision to drop him ahead of the European Super Cup.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Donnarumma expressed deep disappointment and bid farewell to the club and its supporters.

“From the first day I arrived, I gave everything—on and off the pitch—to earn my place and proudly defend the PSG goal. Unfortunately, someone has decided I will no longer be part of this group. It’s a decision that leaves me disappointed and bitter,” Donnarumma wrote.

He went on to thank the fans for their unwavering support, describing them as “special” and recalling the “magical nights” at Parc des Princes. He also paid tribute to his teammates, calling them his “second family,” and expressed gratitude for the honor of representing the club and living in Paris.

In an interview with Sky Sport, Luis Enrique acknowledged the difficulty of the decision, stating: “Donnarumma is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and an even better person. But I am 100% responsible for this choice. It’s about the profile of goalkeeper my team needs.” Enrique emphasized the importance of strategic fit and reiterated that such decisions are part of the demands of top-level football.

PSG captain Marquinhos commented on the situation, noting the unpredictability of football during the transfer window. “We know how football is, especially during the transfer market—it’s a bit difficult,” he said.
