The 30-year-old Portugal international will join Spurs on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich. The deal includes a loan fee of up to €5 million and a buy option worth around €30 million, which could increase with add-ons. Tottenham will also cover his full salary during the loan period.
Palhinha moved to Bayern Munich in July 2024 after an impressive run at Fulham. The German side had paid up to £47 million for the midfielder, who had made his mark in the Premier League by winning Fulham’s Player of the Season award in 2022–23 and leading the league in tackles and duels won. However, limited opportunities at Bayern, including just six Bundesliga starts, prompted the decision to seek a move back to England.
For Tottenham, Palhinha adds experience and strength in defensive midfield—a valuable asset as the club prepares for Champions League football under new head coach Thomas Frank. The loan structure also offers financial flexibility, allowing the club to evaluate the player before committing to a permanent transfer.
Bayern, on the other hand, are set to take a potential £20 million loss on the player compared to their initial investment, indicating a willingness to move him on due to squad depth and performance issues.
With his medical completed, the final paperwork is expected to be wrapped up shortly. An official announcement could follow as early as Saturday, August 2, 2025.
This move marks Palhinha’s return to familiar territory in the Premier League, where he previously excelled with Fulham and now aims to reignite his form in North London.
