Ciara Legally Adds Russell Wilson’s Surname to Her Son Future’s Name

Ciara has made a personal and symbolic decision regarding her eldest son’s name. 

The singer legally added her husband Russell Wilson’s surname to that of her son, Future Zahir, whom she shares with rapper Future. While the boy still carries his biological father’s last name, Wilburn, his full legal name now also includes Wilson, underscoring the sense of unity within Ciara’s household.

The development gained attention after Russell Wilson shared a family photo from the U.S. Open, referring in his caption to “Mrs. Ciara Wilson, Future Wilson & Sienna Wilson.” That post sparked speculation that an adoption had taken place, but reports clarified that wasn’t the case. Instead, Ciara, who has full custody of her son, moved to formally incorporate her husband’s surname into the child’s name.

According to multiple outlets, the change was made some years ago, though it resurfaced recently following Wilson’s social media post. For many observers, the addition is viewed as a meaningful acknowledgment of Russell’s role as a stepfather and a way to reinforce the closeness of their blended family.
