Chelsea FC have been dealt a blow this week after their young Belgian midfielder Roméo Lavia was ruled out for at least one month following a quadriceps injury picked up during the Champions League clash against Qarabağ FK.
The 21‑year‑old limped off very early in the game, and manager Enzo Maresca admitted the timing is “a shame… because we are trying to minimise minutes for him. But even with that, he’s injured again.”
Lavia’s absence comes at a crucial stage of the campaign for Chelsea, as the fixture list tightens ahead of the festive period. With the quad injury confirmed, the Blues will have to manage without one of their prized young midfield options for the next four‑to‑six weeks.
It remains to be seen how the club will fill the gap, but the immediate priority will be Lavia’s rehabilitation and ensuring he returns stronger and ready.
