Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has confirmed that forward Cole Palmer has suffered a fractured toe following an accident at home, ruling him out of the club’s upcoming fixtures against Burnley, Barcelona, and Arsenal.
Chelsea have been dealt another injury setback as manager Enzo Maresca revealed that Cole Palmer has fractured his toe in a domestic accident. The 23-year-old forward, who had been nearing a return from a groin injury sustained earlier in the season, will now miss at least the next three matches.
Speaking at his press conference, Maresca explained: “Unfortunately, Cole had an accident at home where he fractured his toe. He is not available for Burnley, Barcelona, or Arsenal. It’s nothing major, but for sure he won’t be back next week.”
Palmer reportedly stubbed his toe against a door, causing the fracture. The timing is particularly frustrating for Chelsea, as the England international was close to regaining full fitness after being sidelined since September with a groin problem.
Maresca emphasized that while the injury is not considered serious, it will delay Palmer’s return to action:
“He was almost ready to come back from the groin injury, but now he has this small issue.”
As a result, Palmer will be absent from Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Burnley, the Champions League tie against Barcelona, and the high-profile league encounter with Arsenal. His recovery timeline remains uncertain, though the club hopes he can rejoin the squad within the coming weeks.
