Prominent businessman and socialite, Obi Cubana, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive action in securing the release of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Cubana emphasized that lasting peace and stability in the South-East cannot be achieved without Kanu’s freedom. In a statement shared on his social media platforms, he lamented Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, citing recent kidnappings, attacks, and the tense national mood as evidence of a country in distress.
According to him, the detention of Nnamdi Kanu continues to fuel unrest among the Igbo people, and resolving the matter is critical to restoring confidence and unity. He revealed that over the past three months, he and other concerned Nigerians have engaged with key government figures—including Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, and Seyi Tinubu, son of the President—on pressing issues such as insecurity, taxation, and governance.
