The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed disciplinary sanctions on Katsina United following disorder during their Matchday 12 fixture against Barau FC, which ended in a 1–1 draw.

In a statement released by the league, Katsina United were fined ₦9 million for multiple breaches, including failure to maintain effective security, allowing unauthorised access to restricted areas, and for bringing the game into disrepute. The club must also play all remaining home matches behind closed doors, with the venue shifted to Jos, Plateau State.

The decision followed a violent incident in which a Barau FC player, Nana Abraham, reportedly sustained a neck injury after being attacked by a pitch-invader. Katsina United have been given 48 hours from the date of notice to appeal the ruling.

The NPFL stated that the actions of the home club’s supporters and the failure to provide proper security were capable of bringing the game into disrepute. Katsina United, however, denied the allegations, insisting none of their supporters invaded the pitch or assaulted the Barau FC player.
