Osimhen Joins Salah and Hakimi in Final Shortlist for African Player of the Year

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been named as one of the final three contenders for the CAF Men’s African Player of the Year award.

CAF confirmed that Osimhen will compete for the honour alongside Mohamed Salah of Liverpool and Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain.

Osimhen secured his place among the finalists after an outstanding 2024–2025 season with Galatasaray, where he scored 37 goals, provided seven assists in 41 matches, and played a crucial role in the club’s success, helping them win two major trophies.

The shortlist was determined by a panel consisting of CAF’s Technical and Development Committee, national team coaches, and selected media professionals. Performances recorded between 6 January and 15 October 2025 were used as the basis for the evaluation.
