Portugal celebrated a historic performance as Bruno Fernandes and João Neves each scored hat-tricks in their emphatic 9–1 victory over Armenia, a result that sealed their qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The national team also shared a black-and-white photo of Fernandes and Neves on social media with the caption:

Portugal opened the scoring in the seventh minute through Renato Veiga before Eduard Spertsyan briefly levelled for Armenia. Gonçalo Ramos reinstated Portugal’s lead, and João Neves added two quick goals — including a superb free-kick — to make it 4–1. Bruno Fernandes converted a late first-half penalty as Portugal went into the break leading 5–1.
Fernandes scored again early in the second half and later completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot. Neves sealed his own hat-trick with a composed finish before Francisco Conceição rounded off the scoring in stoppage time to complete the 9–1 rout.
