Portugal produced a dazzling display in Porto, thrashing Armenia 9–1 in their final UEFA Group F qualifier to book their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The result capped a dominant campaign and underlined the team’s depth, even in the absence of suspended captain Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Seleção opened the scoring early through Renato Veiga, but Armenia briefly stunned the home crowd when Eduard Spertsyan equalized in the 18th minute. From then on, Portugal seized full control. Gonçalo Ramos restored the lead, and João Neves struck twice before halftime to make it 4–1.

In the second half, Bruno Fernandes stole the spotlight, converting two penalties and adding another strike to complete his hat-trick. Neves matched the feat with a third goal of his own, while Francisco Conceição rounded off the rout in the closing minutes.
