Messi had unveiled a 21-meter statue of himself holding the World Cup, but his appearance was cut short, leaving fans disappointed and angry. Many had paid over $100 for tickets and traveled long distances to catch a glimpse of their idol.
The frustrated spectators broke down barricades, stormed the pitch, and vandalized banners and tents. Some fans expressed their anger, stating that they had spent a month's salary to see Messi and were left unimpressed by the mismanagement.
