Van Dijk, Gomez and Matip travels with Liverpool squad to Austria for pre-season

Liverpool fans were excited after defenders Virgil Van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip returned to training. The three Liverpool players were ruled out of the 2020-21 season due to injuries.

Virgil Van Dijk suffered a serious anterior ligament injury against Everton in the Merseyside derby last year September. The defender was tackled by Everton goalkeeper Pickford in the first half of the game.

Joel Matip was struggling with fitness. He was unavailable for most games last season.

The three defenders was spotted in training on Tuesday (July 12th 2021) afternoon. Liverpool are currently in Austria for their pre-season tour. 

Liverpool will start their pre-season on July 20th 2021. The Reds will face three Bundesliga clubs (Hertha Berlin, VfB Stuttgart and FSV Mainz). 

Liverpool's new signing Ibrahima Konate was spotted rocking the Reds New kits in training. The defender joined Liverpool this summer from RB Leipzig.
