Indomitable Lions’ forward Jean-Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting on a three-year deal by Premier League side Stoke City.

The Cameroun star, 28, out of contract at Schalke in the summer, joined the Potters on a free-transfer and adds quality to Mark Hughes’ side as they hope to continue life after the sale of Marko Arnautovic and Jon Walters to West Ham and Burnley respectively.

Choupo-Moting is 6ft 3ins tall but quick, technically good and can play as a left winger or secondary striker. Though he only scored three goals for Schalke from the wing last season, he has 13 in 42 appearances for Cameroon.

He was at Stoke on Sunday ahead of completing his move with Hughes hoping to employ his versatility in the front line alongside Xherdan Shaqiri.

Choupo-Moting’s Cameroun will face Nigeria’s Super Eagles in a double-header Russia 2018 World Cup Qualifiers with the first leg coming up in Uyo on September 1 while the second leg is billed for Yaounde four days later on September 5.

Nigeria lead the FIFA World Cup Qualifying (Africa) Group B table with six points from two games while the Lions are second with two points from as many games. Zambia and Algeria prop up the table with one point each.
