Birmingham has been announced as the host of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
This was after Durban was stripped of the event in March 2017.
Durban, South Africa was stripped due to failure to meet the criteria set out by the Commonwealth Games Federation, CGF.
Birmingham was selected despite being the only city to submit a bid within the Commonwealth Games Federation’s (CGF) deadline of the end of September.
Birmingham will prepare for the Games as a replacement city on a shortened schedule, 27 months less than what had been planned when the first selection process ended.
