Meghan Markle's father, Thomas Markle Sr., has said her mother, Doria Ragland, should walk her down the aisle in his place after he pulled out of the wedding at the last minute.
Thomas Markle Sr. believes his ex-wife Doria Ragland would be a "good choice" to give their daughter away at St George's Chapel, Windsor, when she married Prince Harry on Saturday, May 19.
Thomas Markel Sr. decided not to walk Meghan down the aisle after it emerged that he made a deal with paparazzi to take his photos for a fee. He felt shame that he made a deal with a paparazzi agency that photographed him in staged shots, therefore, he decided to pull out of the wedding so as not to embarrass his daughter and the royal family further.
Meghan is said to be distraught and has pleaded with her father to change his mind after he apparently pulled out of Saturday's wedding because of the faked photographs row. But the 73-year-old former lighting director wants to stay in Mexico after the embarrassing scandal.
Meghan's mum, Doria is about to fly into the UK from Los Angeles to support her daughter and is now the clear favorite to walk her down the aisle in her father's absence. Prince Charles and Prince William are other likely candidates to walk Meghan down the aisle. If William is to walk her down the aisle, he will take Meghan into St George's before starting his duties as Harry's best man.
There are also speculations that Meghan may have to walk down the aisle alone.
Meanwhile, Kensington Palace has issued a statement addressing the situation with Meghan Markle's dad.
A spokesman said: "This is a deeply personal moment for Ms. Markle in the days before her wedding. She and Prince Harry ask again for understanding and respect to be extended to Mr. Markle in this difficult situation."
