Real Madrid will be bidding to end Barcelona’s reign at the top of Spanish football- with the absence of star player Cristiano Ronaldo

Barcelona went 36 games unbeaten last season before a shock 5-4 defeat to Levante robbed them of the chance for an ‘invincible’ league title victory.

Atletico Madrid will hope to offer a third way in the title race and have shown major ambition with the signing of Thomas Lemar from Monaco.

The Barcelona-Real Madrid El Classico showdowns are scheduled for match-days 10 and 26 (October 2018 and March 2019 respectively).

Newly promoted Huesca will be looking to make a major impact on their first ever season in the top tier, they are joined by Rayo Vallecano and Real Valladolid.

The new season will see the implementation of video assistant referees for the first time in Spanish football

The season begins on August 19 and is scheduled to end on May 26.

LaLiga will now meet with TV rights holders in determining the kick-off times for the first series of fixtures.
