The German met 12-year-old Charlie Middleton on several occasions, inviting him as his guest to the 2017 FA Cup final, and was left devastated following the news on Wednesday.
'Such sad news to hear that my friend and huge Arsenal supporter Charlie has passed away after his long battle with cancer,' he wrote on Instagram.
'Rest in peace! We will miss you so much, Charlie ❤'
Ozil posted three pictures alongside the young fan on social media, who twice battled cancer, suffering from tumours on his brain and spine.
