Beautiful Nollywood actress, Dakore Akande, has revealed why she stopped playing romantic roles in movies.
Chatting with Channels Television’s Sunrise anchors recently, Dakore said she later realized that her decision to stop playing romantic roles in movies was affecting her growth in the industry.
Upon realization of this fact, she decided to have a conversation with her handsome hubby, Olamide Akande on the matter.
When asked if being married influences her choice of roles in movies, she had this to say, “That’s for sure because certain scenes and roles in movies can cause some friction. And I’ve done some of those roles recently. I did try to run away from romantic roles, but I wasn’t growing; I wasn’t challenging myself. And I didn’t not want to censure myself any longer” she revealed.
The 40-year old producer of ‘Isoken’ also spoke on her decision to take brief hiatus from filmmaking after her marriage in 2011.
She said: I wanted to be a 100 percent mum and wife because I got pregnant quickly after and that took me away. I wanted to really focus and be a mum to my kids. Just when I got the first one, I became pregnant with the second one. By then I had already started coming back to film. I had shot, ‘Journey to self’ and ‘Unconditional love’. In all, I’m very happy with my choices, I’m very happy with the way I came into the industry; it’s been a great run” said the mother of two.
