Lassana Diarra has left Paris St Germain, the Ligue 1 leaders have announced.


Diarra, 33, signed for PSG in January 2018 and helped them to last season's Ligue 1 and French League Cup double but has made only three league appearances this season.


A statement on the club's website read: 'Paris Saint-Germain has reached an agreement with Lassana Diarra to terminate his contract, due to expire on 30 June 2019.

'The club thanks Lassana for his professionalism throughout his time at Paris Saint-Germain and wishes him well for the next steps in his career.


Diarra moved to the Parc des Princes from Al Jazira on a free transfer in January 2018 and went on to make 20 appearances in all competitions during his 13 months at the club.


The midfielder has previously played for clubs including Arsenal, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Marseille, winning Ligue 1 and La Liga titles as well as a French Cup, Spanish Cup and two FA Cups.


The former France international also won 34 caps between 2007 and 2016, last featuring at the European Championship.
