Arsenal eyes Nick Pope as Petr Cech replacement

Arsenal are planning to sign Burnley goalkeeper, Nick Pope, according to reports.

The Gunners are in the market to replace Petr Cech, who has already announced that he will retire at the end of the season.

After impressing in Tom Heaton’s absence last season, Pope has struggled to secure playing time this term and has made just three appearances so far.

Sean Dyche has already confirmed that one of his three goalkeepers – Heaton, Pope or Joe Hart – is likely to leave Turf Moor at the end of the season.

And according to The Sun, Burnley would accept a bid of around £10 million for Pope, with Arsenal ready to make a move.

The Gunners signed Bernd Leno in an initial £19.2m deal last summer.

But once Cech departs, Unai Emery will need a strong back-up to compete with Leno.
