Barca request for PSG to lower Rabiot wage demands

The saga surrounding Adrien Rabiot's future has reopened after Barcelona requested the PSG midfielder lowered his wage demands and withdrew their first offer.

Rabiot is winding down his contract at the Parc des Princes and looks set to leave on a free transfer in the summer.

Barca were among a number of clubs interested in the Frenchman last month but were accused of making an illegal approach, which they denied in an official statement.

Now they will only reopen negotiations if the 23-year-old lowers his wage demands, according to Sport.

The Spanish paper also claims the France international still wants to move to the Nou Camp in the summer and has hired a new agent as a result.

Rabiot has not played for the Parisian giants since the final game of the Champions League group stage in December and has been asked to train with the reserves rather than the senior team on the orders of president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

It was reported in France last month that Rabiot had turned down a transfer to Tottenham as he hoped to join Liverpool instead.

Barcelona, though, appears to be his most likely destination after nearly 10 years in the French capital.

Since his debut in 2012 Rabiot has made 227 appearances but has featured only 20 times this season having been frozen out.
