Denis Suarez has revealed Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin played a part in him signing for the Gunners this January transfer window.
Unai Emery's side were in hot pursuit of the Barcelona midfielder throughout the month before finally landing him on loan on Deadline Day.
Suarez appeared keen to join Arsenal but the Catalan club wanted him to extend his contract in Spain first as an insurance before they would agree to let him go.
The 25-year-old did this on Thursday before flying out to north London, where he trained on his own ahead of his potential Arsenal debut against Manchester City.
"I've spoken to Hector. He wrote me a message when the rumours started to come out in the press about me joining Arsenal," said Suarez on the Arsenal website.
"I hope he can recover as soon as possible. It's a shame that he's injured because I'd love to play with him, but I'm sure he'll be back soon."
