THE wife of Andrey Arshavin has reported the ex-Arsenal star to police over allegations he threatened her, according to reports in Russia.

Alica Arshavina accuses the Russian of making threats through messages and calls.

Her lawyer said the model had filed a police statement in St Petersburg, reports Tass.

Alexander Dobrovinsky said: "A statement to the police was filed upon threats from his (Arshavin) side."

Currently the duo are embroiled in divorce proceedings.

They are ongoing in the Petersburg World Court.

At the end of last year the retired forward was pictured riding a horse in bizarre footage after supposedly stumbling out of a strip club, according to reports in Russia.

He hung up his boots in November 2018 after an erratic career as arguably Russia’s most high-profile footballer ever.

But he cut an enigmatic and often frustrating figure after joining Arsenal in 2009.

He showed flashes of supreme ability– most notably scoring four goals in a 4-4 draw with Liverpool – but was often an anonymous figure too.

His career is widely considered one of wasted talent.

After his spell at the Emirates he re-joined Zenit Saint Petersburg permanently in 2013.

His silverware includes the Russian league, UEFA Cup – now known as the Europa League, and a bronze medal at the 2008 European Championships.
