Referee Michel Oliver will be the man in the middle as Manchester United take on Liverpool this Sunday in one of the biggest games of the Premier League season.

Oliver will be tasked with keeping things under control in what is always a fiery encounter at Old Trafford.

He will be joined by Stuart Burt and Simon Bennett working as assistant referees while Andre Marriner is appointed as the fourth official.

Oliver, who has been a top-flight ref since 2010, last took charge of Liverpool in their 5-1 win over Arsenal in December.

He was the referee for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first game in charge of Manchester United as they defeated Cardiff City 5-1, the week previous.

The officials have also been announced for the midweek set of games with Graham Scott taking charge of Liverpool vs Watford on Wednesday, February 27.

Oliver has been in the middle for games between Liverpool and United twice before.

The first was a 3-1 win for Man United at Old Trafford in September 2015.

And he also oversaw a 1-1 draw in Manchester back in January 2017.

But the appointment does not seem to have gone down well with some Manchester United fans on social media.

Oliver has awarded Liverpool three penalties this season - one away to Palace, two at home to Arsenal - and United fans are fearing the worst.
