Nantes to pay tribute to Sala by wearing black shirts, all with his name on the back

FC Nantes played their first game since the body of Emiliano Sala was found and they paid tribute to their former colleague by wearing black kits with his name on them.

Emiliano Sala was clearly loved by everyone at FC Nantes. Their former striker had returned to Nantes to say farewell to his former colleagues and the return journey to Cardiff was when the plane carrying him and pilot David Ibbotson crashed in the English Channel.

The club made the decision to retire the number nine shirt after his body was found in the wreckage of the crash earlier this week.

Last week, during Nantes first game since the tragic incident, the referee stopped the game in the ninth minute for everyone to pay tribute to Cardiff's record signing and today the fans took the lead in the ninth minute with supporters of both teams applauding and singing Sala's name:

An incredible bunch of tributes paid by everyone involved.
