Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo revealed that forgotten Super Eagles star Obafemi Martins and former Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores convinced him to join Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua.
The 29-year-old Lagos-born moves to the three-time Chinese Super League champions on a three-year deal to replace his fellow countryman Martins at the club where the ex-Inter Milan, Newcastle United and Seattle Sounders goal poacher.
Ighalo admits that as he speaking to BBC Sport: "I also had a good chat with Obafemi Martins [former Shenhua striker] and he gave me an insight on life, football, the club and it's fan base. Now I know what to expect.
Nigeria international admits the Spanish coach pulled out all the stops to make the move happen and it will rekindle his friendship with former Watford coach Flores Sanchez who he plays under in England who joined Shanghai Shenhua on the 28th of December.
"It's important to sort my club future and I'm happy that it comes with a great opportunity to play under coach Quique again,"
"From the beginning, he made it clear that he wanted me and I completely understand what that means.
"We've had some good times together and importantly it's good to continue in a league you've come to understand, so I am really excited."
Ighalo bagged 36 goals in 55 games for the Changchun Yatai in two seasons.
