Raheem Sterling has revealed he always knew Jadon Sancho was the real deal - ever since nearly injuring himself tryng to stop him in training at Manchester City.
The pair are both part of Gareth Southgate's England squad to face Czech Republic and Montenegro in their Euro 2020 qualifiers and back training together in the Three Lions set up.
And being re-united with his former City team-mate brought back memories of a raw Sancho talent trying to impress in the North West.
'I always knew he’d become the player he has, for sure. From minute one.
'I was playing right back against him one day in pre-season training and he spun me back and I nearly did my back in. He’s a great talent.'
Sancho has been open about the influence Sterling has had on his career, and the former replaced the latter to make his England debut against Croatia last year.
Both have tred a similar path - moving further away from home to maximsise their progress.
In going to Borussia Dortmund and the Bundesliga, the 18-year-old Sancho took a major leap, but it's one that is applauded by the former Liverpool winger.
'When he first mentioned to me he was thinking about going abroad, even though he was a City player, I was happy to hear that from him,' said Sterling.
'To see that confidence, it reminded me of myself when I went to Liverpool.

'So when he said that to me about going, I knew he had a massive chance to go on to do big things.'
