Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said the centre-back was "better off not playing" in the 2-1 victory at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Lindelof , 24, withdrew from Sweden's squad last week for European Championship qualifiers against Romania and Norway.
He opted, instead, to be with wife Maja for the birth of their first son - who he took to Old Trafford on Saturday.
And Lindelof had revealed he was subjected to "sick" threats for missing international duty.
He told Swedish channel Viasat: "I have not followed it so much but focused on what has been important to me and that is Maja. People always wonder what lies behind things.
"What I cannot understand is how people cannot respect that is a personal reason. For me it is quite sick that you can not only respect it and release it."
Lindelof, who joined United from Benfica in 2017 for £31million, has excelled this season under Solskjaer.
Speaking after the victory that lifted United into the Prem top four, Solskjaer said the defender's absence was down to off-field issues.
New Old Trafford chief said: "We felt Victor was better off not playing because he's had a couple of things to sort out, that's no problem. He'll be all right."
