Xhaka stays positive of playing against Everton this weekend

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is hoping to return to action ‘as soon as possible’ from his groin injury.

The Switzerland international missed Monday’s 2-0 win against Newcastle after sustaining a ‘small’ strain in training the previous Friday.

‘We started Friday with not good news with Xhaka, he has a small injury and could not play today,’ Emery said after the win at the Emirates.

Arsenal face Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday as they look to consolidate their place in the top four.

And it looks as though Xhaka is targeting a return this weekend as the midfielder confirmed on his Instagram today that he’s ‘working hard’ on his recovery.
