Ander Herrera will leave Manchester United at the end of the season.

The Spaniard has been in a contract stand-off with the Red Devils for the past few months and has failed to reach an agreement over a new deal.

Herrera will quit United on a free transfer at the end of the season, with his most likely destination being France, where he has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Spaniard wanted around £200,000-a-week to remain at Old Trafford, but Red Devils executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward wasn't prepared to stump up the cash to retain the services of a 30-year-old.

PSG, meanwhile, are reportedly happy to offer Herrera a £25million contract.

The midfielder is the first confirmed exit at Manchester United ahead of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's expected cull this summer.

Herrera will be part of United's squad for their final game of the season against Cardiff City before saying goodbye to his team-mates.

On social media the Spaniard released an emotional video message to the fans.

The Spaniard failed to reach an agreement over a new contract

He said: "There is red in my heart, I knew it from the first time I played here and in the moment that I first started to wear it.

"A club with thousands of fans that respect and remember all the players who give everything.

"I felt special when I heard my name chanted, I felt proud when the fans decided I was part of this incredible history.

"Every time I represented this club in wins and losses even when I couldn't help from the grass. I understood what this club means.

"I am going to remember each of the almost 200 matches that I played in this jersey. Because playing for the greatest club in England has been a true honour.

"Thanks for these five amazing years."
