Ahead of the 2019 Women’s Champions League final against French giants, Olympique Lyonnais, Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala’s Spanish club, Barcelona, have revealed the kit which their players will wear for the clash taking place on Saturday in Budapest.
The kit has the venue and date of the Champions League inscribed on it along with the names of the teams competing in the final at the Ferencvaros Stadium in the capital of Hungary.
Barcelona qualified for a first-ever Champions League final after overcoming Frauen Bundesliga side, Bayern Munich, 2-0 on aggregate with Oshoala coming off the bench in both legs of the semi-final which the Spanish side won 1-0 each, despite playing with 10 women for the final 20 minutes of the second leg.
Lyon on their part are heavy favourites to win the title as they will be making a fourth successive appearance in the final of the competition and go into the encounter on a high after a 3-1 win over LOSC Lille saw them win the Coupe de France title last Wednesday.
The French side will be looking to end their season with a treble having also claimed the league title in France earlier in May, going the entire campaign unbeaten and finishing five points ahead of arch-rivals, Paris Saint-Germain, in the title race.
Barcelona on their part will be looking to end a relatively successful season by claiming one major silverware after coming close in other competitions – Barca fell to Atletico Madrid in the Copa de la Reina (equivalent of the Copa del Rey) semi-final.
The Catalan giants also ran Atletico close in the Spanish top flight’s title race, ending the league campaign with 78 points but finishing six points behind the Madrid side after a 1-0 loss to fourth placed Granadilla Tenerife on the final day of the season.
But Oshoala and her Barcelona team-mates will face an uphill task against Lyon who have won the Champions League title five times, including a record three consecutive wins in the last three editions of the competitions.
