Veteran goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon, has been offered a one-year contract extension by Paris Saint-Germain.

The Italian legend moved to PSG last summer from Juventus, where he had spent 17 years, on a one-year and it had appeared the French giants wanted to cut his stay short by not offering new terms.

However, speaking to Sky Uno, Buffon has now revealed that the Ligue 1 side have made contact over a new deal.

He said: “The club has offered me an extension, which makes me really happy.

“We will look in a few days to examine this project and see if we both believe that it is good to continue together.

“It’s going well in Paris. I have exceptional life experience at 41 years old. I arrived convinced that I would be involved as a player and as a person, and I found what I came for.”

Earlier this month, German newspaper Sport Bild claimed PSG wanted to get rid of Buffon and recall Kevin Trapp from his loan spell at Eintracht Frankfurt to replace him.

Buffon is now 41 years old and has shared PSG’s goalkeeping responsibilities with Alphonse Areola this season.

The Italian has played 24 times – although only five times in the last 13 Ligue 1 clashes – while Areola has been in goal on 30 occasions in all competitions.
