Vincent Kompany reveals his all-time Manchester City XI ahead of his move to Anderlecht

Vincent Kompany has announced that he will leave Manchester City this summer in order to take a player-manager position at his boyhood club Anderlecht.

The 33-year-old brought the curtain down on his glittering career at City, having captained the side to the English domestic treble – the first time it has ever been achieved in the men's game.

Kompany has played alongside a number of phenomenal players during his 11 years at the club and to celebrate his trophy-laden spell, he revealed his all-time City XI.

Kompany begins by apologising in advance for leaving out so many big names but the skipper can be forgiven considering there's only 10 other places up for grabs.

The skipper controversially opts to go with Joe Hart over Ederson Morales for his first pick by explaining that the Brazilian is 'well on his way to becoming City's greatest ever goalkeeper' but Hart was 'defining in changing the culture' at City.

Having opted for a 4-3-3 formation, Kompany then names himself in defence with John Stones as his central partner, leaving out the likes of Nicolas Otamendi, Aymeric Laporte and Joleon Lescott.

Kompany insisted Stones was more of a 'complete package' and is the 'most gifted defender'.

At full back, the 33-year-old left out Kyle Walker in favour for Pablo Zabaleta while giving Gael Clichy the left-back berth.

Yaya Toure and David Silva are the first two players named in his midfield trio before giving the final space to Fernandinho.

Before moving on, Kompany quickly has a rethink and decides to omit the Brazilian for Kevin De Bruyne instead making the team 'ridiculously offensive'.

'I've seen Kevin do things I haven't seen any player do, nevermind my City XI and he'd be in my world XI so I'll put Kevin in there,' Kompany said.

Predictably, Kompany chose City's all-time leading goalscorer Sergio Aguero to lead the line

Kompany went for power and pace up top as he nominated Raheem Sterling as his man on the right while Sergio Aguero predictably leads the line.

'And then here comes the trouble,' Kompany laughed. 'Left wing. I loved Edin Dzeko when he was at the club while Tevez was massive for us.

'Winning the FA Cup wouldn't have been possible without the likes of Tevez and Dzeko. [Leroy] Sane is a great player, he was unbelievable last season but I'll go with Tevez.'

Kompany praised the Argentinian forward for the impact he made for the club after making his move from fierce rivals Manchester United.
