Chelsea goalkeeper has retired after the Europa Cup win against Arsenal on Wednesday.
Rob Green released a statement that confirms he would be hanging up his gloves after two-decades of professional football.
Green did not play any part in Chelsea games this season but he was a popular figure in the dressing room and will no doubt be missed by his team-mates.
He wants to continue with the game but in a coaching capacity but whether or not that is with Chelsea remains to be seen.
While the former England international became something of a jovial figure when he joined Chelsea from Huddersfield, he has proven his worth in the dressing room as an experienced head.
The squad celebrated with him after the 4-2 win against Arsenal in Europa league finals on Wednesday shows the way he was revered among the Chelsea stars.
