Kyle Walker has signed a two-year contract extension at Manchester City worth more than £150,000-a-week.

The 29-year-old England right-back still has three years left on the deal he agreed when moving from Tottenham for £50million in the summer of 2017, but City wanted to reward Walker for helping them win back-to-back Premier League titles and he is now tied down until 2024.

They could be in the market for another right-back this summer if they sell Danilo, and have been linked with Joao Cancelo at Juventus.

But manager Pep Guardiola still sees Walker as a key member of his defence after making 53 appearances last season as City won a domestic Treble.

Walker told the club's website: 'I'm thrilled to have signed a new deal. Playing for City has been everything I'd hoped it would be and more.

'It was an easy decision. I want to be competing for trophies, playing at the highest level, and I feel I have improved hugely as a player during my time here.

'The Club's vision – both on and off the pitch – matches mine perfectly and I'm looking forward to spending the new five years here, hopefully winning more silverware.'

Txiki Begiristain, Director of Football, added: 'We are delighted to have Kyle here for a further two years.

'His strength, speed and ability have been vital to our accomplishments. He is a key member of the squad.

'His experience is invaluable, particularly to the younger members of the team, and his contribution will be crucial in our efforts for continued success.'

City also want to strengthen at left-back and have been in discussions with PSV Eindhoven over activating the buy-back clause in Angelino's contract at the Dutch club.

They also need a centre-back to replace Vincent Kompany but are refusing to meet Leicester's £80m-plus valuation of England international Harry Maguire.
