Messi, unjustly expelled before Chile, decided not to go to the award organized by Conmebol.

Afterwards, Messi did not go to the medals presentation, while Nicolas Otamendi also missing.

Following the loss to Brazil in the semi-finals, Messi had already criticised CONMEBOL and the officiating at the tournament.
