Eric Bailly: Terrible Knee Injury Rules Manchester United Defender Out for 5 Months

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Eric Bailly will be out of action for about five months.


The defender suffered a terrible the knee injury during their preseason 2-1 win over fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in Shanghai earlier this month.

He has however undergone surgery and recovery process is expected to kick start in earnest in a bid to stage an early comeback into the team.

Solskjaer however confirmed the news after guiding the Red Devils to a 1-0 win over Kristiansund in one of their friendly games in Oslo on Tuesday, July 30.

The Norwegian tactician said: "Eric has had an operation and will be out for four to five months. Hopefully we'll have him back around Christmas time."

Meanwhile, the Mirror claims that the Ivorian's injury may force United to make another Harry Maguire's bid, having had their earlier offers rejected by Leicester City.

The Red Devils were said to have submitted a bid around £60 million for the England international but the Foxes have a benchmark of £70 million price tag on the player.

Although, the King Power Stadium outfit are said to be asking for £90m which Maguire feels they are trying to stop him from moving to Old Trafford this summer according to the publication.

Meanwhile, Bailly's current situation could see the two teams return to negotiation table in a bid talk about new offers for the defender.

It was the duo of Phil Jones and Victor Lindelof who started in the central defence for United against Kristiansunds, but Solskjaer will need back ups for in case of injuries.
