Liverpool reached the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, beating Arsenal 5-4 on penalties after the game finished 5-5 in a thriller.
Mustafi turned in an own goal to give Liverpool an early lead but the Gunners responded as Torreira equalised before Martinelli scored twice, capitalising on sloppy defending by the Reds.
Elliot was then fouled in the box and Milner converted his penalty to make the score 3-2 at the break. Maitland-Niles restored the two-goal lead with a tap-in after Milner's soft back-pass allowed him to steal in. But then powerful efforts from Oxlade-Chamberlain and Origi brought the hosts level again.
Willock's incredible strike made it 5-4 to Unai Emery's men just when the tide seemed to have turned. Divock Origi's volley at the death took the game to penalties. Curtis Jones slotted home after Ceballos was the only player to have his effort saved.
