Return to training! Liverpool drop Alisson selection hint ahead of Man Utd trip

Alisson looks set to make his long-awaited return from injury against Manchester United on Sunday, while Joel Matip has returned to full training ahead of the trip to Old Trafford.

The Liverpool goalkeeper has been sidelined since the opening day of the season after suffering a calf injury against Norwich City.

However, the Brazil international stepped up his rehabilitation before the October international break when he returned to full training alongside the rest of the senior Liverpool squad.

In a bid to be fit to face Manchester United, the 27-year-old put in additional work at Melwood last week with goalkeeper coach John Achterberg despite players who are not on international duty being given the week off by Jurgen Klopp.

With Adrian proving to be a more than capable deputy in his absence, Liverpool have no desire to rush Alisson back into action until he is 100% ready.

And the goalkeeper appears to be winning his battle to prove his fitness for the trip to Old Trafford if the latest tweet from the official Liverpool Twitter account is anything to go by.

The club tweeted a picture of a delighted Alisson walking onto the training pitches at Melwood with accompanying smiley emojis, before later confirming he took part in full training on Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, having missed the last two games because of a knock, Matip also took part alongside his teammates and looks set to be available to face Manchester United.
