Granit Xhaka is allegedly refusing to apologise to Arsenal fans despite Unai Emery phoning him to convince him to do so, according to reports.

According to The Sun, a disciplinary inquiry is underway at the Emirates.

Emery is alleged to have phoned Xhaka after the match, where he attempted to convince the midfielder to issue an apology to fans.

Xhaka is yet to do this, with the situation threatening to spiral further out of control.

Gunners manager Emery spoke to the press following Sunday's draw with Palace, after Arsenal threw away a two-goal lead.

On Xhaka, He said: "He was wrong. We need to stay calm, speak to him internally about that. We are working with the club and the players to play under pressure.

"We are going to speak with him because the reaction was wrong.

"We are here because we have supporters. We work for them and need to have respect for them when they are applauding us and criticising us."
