Arsene Wenger says Manchester City and Pep Guardiola will be ‘devastated’ after their defeat to Premier League title rivals Liverpool.
Defending champions City were beaten 3-1 at Anfield on Sunday afternoon to slip nine points behind Jurgen Klopp’s unbeaten Reds.
Brazilian midfielder Fabinho gave Liverpool the lead with a superb strike, just 22 seconds after Manchester City were denied a strong penalty shout
Mohamed Salah doubled the hosts’ advantage on 13 minutes, and Sadio Mane put the game to bed shortly after half-time with another header.
Bernardo Silva pulled one back for Manchester City but Liverpool held on to win 3-1 and move eight points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Reacting to Liverpool’s win over City, former Arsenal boss Wenger said: ‘First of all, to lose a big game is terrible.
‘You saw the reactions from both of the managers tonight. You can see the pressure they are under and how much a game like that means to both of them.
‘Pep will go home and be absolutely devastated, more than you think. If you think a quantity, add 100% and you might get close to that.
‘Overall, nine points is too big a difference for Man City after 12 games.’
