Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry has been unveiled as the new manager of MLS side Montreal Impact after he signed a two-year contract with the US club.
The 42-year-old Frenchman had been dismissed in January after just four months in charge of his boyhood club Monaco. During his four months with the club, Henry was only able to win just four games out of 20 games with his side losing 11 and falling to the 19th spot in Ligue 1.
Today, November 11, 2019, Henry held his first press conference as he was unveiled as the new coach of Montreal Impact.
Speaking at his press conference, the Frenchman said: ‘You have to start somewhere. That’s how you acquire experience. For me, it came with Belgium and Monaco, where I learned a lot about myself.
'It’s about fighting. This isn’t just my story but the story of everyone in life. Everyone falls. It's about how you get up.'
‘It didn’t work out in Monaco (as a coach). I can give you a lot of excuses but at the end of the day it didn’t work out and I am here as a coach of Montreal.
'I learned a lot there. The only mistake you can make is not learning from what happened. You have to confront it.'
He added: ‘The face of a team is often a reflection of the coach, but I want the community, the players to feel what's going on in this city. Finance is not a problem. In this league, winning teams do not always have money.'
Thierry Henry who retired from from professional football in 2014after 20 years, played for top clubs like AS Monaco, Juventus, Arsenal FC, FC Barcelona, the New York Red.
The Arsenal's all-time leading goalscorer, won two Premier League titles and three FA Cups with the Gunners, where he played between 1999 and 2007. He also won the Champions League trophy with Barcelona in 2009
