Solskjaer: Rashford, Maguire & Lindelof are all doubtful for Bournemouth game

Manchester United are sweating on the fitness of Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.

The trio picked up knocks during Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup victory at Chelsea, sealed by Rashford’s stunning 30-yard free kick.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted he is unsure whether they will make it for Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth.

‘It's still early. Hopefully we can get them back on the pitch tomorrow,’ Solskjaer said.

‘They had some treatment yesterday, a little more treatment today, a light session and hopefully they're ready. I can't tell you exactly now.’

A raft of stars – including Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Luke Shaw - are already absent for United, who can move into the top six with a win down on the south coast.

Solskjaer’s side have won their last three, all away from Old Trafford, and the manager believes his players are attacking with more instinct.

‘Fine margins decide football games at this level, decisions by the referee or by a player at a certain moment,’ he added. ‘A player can turn down a pass, turn down a finish.

‘It’s so much easier when you get momentum from confidence of results. The boys look like they're playing on instinct rather than having that split second to think.’

Rashford has four goals in his last four games and Solskjaer praised the striker, who turned 22 on Thursday, for taking charge of the penalty at Stamford Bridge after high-profile misses.

‘Since Anthony Martial came back then Marcus has blossomed as well,’ Solskjaer said. ‘He’s probably happier facing goal, being direct and taking players on, rather than that target man with his back to goal.

‘Marcus wants to master all the skills. He’s only just turned 22. We’ll see him up front, maybe as a two with Anthony, maybe as a three against Norwich or wide like we did against Chelsea.’
