Super Falcons striker Uchenna Kanu have the best 2019 gift following a Confederation of African Football award nomination for best female footballer.

The 22-year-old Southeastern University student has been recognized for her great goalscoring form in her extra curricular time with her school soccer team where she has scored tonnes of goals since she joined after representing Nigeria at the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup and the 2019 FIFA Women's World.Cup that place in France.

Kanu was also pivotal to Super Falcons victorious outing at the West Africa Football Union 2019 tournament held in Abidjan Ivory Coast where she scored 10 crucial goals to win both the best tournament player award along as been named the competition's highest goal scorer.

Since her migration to the Southeastern University in USA to study Graphics Design and joined their collegiate school team. She set a record for goals scored in a single season.

In 2016, She made her debut mid season for Southeastern University and scored 13 goals in ten games. Three time conference offensive player of the week, voted TSC newcomer of the year and first team all conference. 

While 2017 saw started 21 games and set a single season program records for goals scoring 45 goals and got 10 assists. Five times Sun conference player of the week, TSC player of the year, first team TSC, NAIA offensive player of the year and NAIA all tournament team and second team all American. On average, she scored a goal every 33 minutes

As 2018 will have her fired 221 shots, set single season record of 57 goals along with been named United Soccer Coached NAIA player of the year

But 2019 took her to the top as All-time collegiate record for most goals in a single school, 149 goals, 17 times she won offensive player of the week in her career. 32 goals for her club in 2019, 10 goals for Super Falcons at the WAFU Cup.

The Abia born Southeastern fire will battle nine other women including Barcelona Femeni star and three times winner of the African player of the year award Asisat Oshoala and Rivers Angels goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie is also a surprise nominee and current holder Thembi Kgatlana of South Africa will have to repeat her astonishing 2018 feat again when the award takes place on 7th of January 2020 in Egypt.
