Craig David surprised his very emotional mother with a brand mew Mini Cooper on Christmas day.

In a video he shared on his Twitter, the Walking Away singer, 38, detailed a series of Willy Wonka themed clues he'd planned for his mum, Tina, that led her to the Mini Cooper Sport parked outside their family home.


The short clip showed his mum curiously unwrapping a gold-wrapped present to reveal a blue box that contained the keys to her new car.

Shock: In a video posted to Twitter, the singer shared his surprise which included a series of Willy Wonka themed clues for his mum, Tina, that led her to the car parked outside

Upon realising the extent of her sons generosity, Tina gasped in disbelief and the excited Craig, who was recording her reaction, proclaimed: 'Merry Christmas, Mum, Merry Christmas.'


Tina, who was overcome with emotion, hugged her musician son and said: 'This is crazy! This is amazing', before she jumped in the front seat to get a feel for her new ride. 


The singer-songwriter captioned the video: 'It’s a beautiful day when a surprise for the most beautiful woman in my life goes to plan. Merry Christmas Mum & to all of you!', with a link to his Instagram showing the full 18 minute surprise video.


The full video detailed the surprise plan from start to finish and showed the singer excitedly revealing his plan - which involved a three-part hand-made series of clues - to his fans.  


The first clue was written in a hand made Christmas card which hinted to the second clue he had hidden in the front garden. 


Craig prompted the curious and confused Tina as she walked outside to find the second clue which was hidden inside a Willy Wonka chocolate bar wrapped in a golden ticket.

The golden ticket read:  'We have so much time and so little to see. Wait a minute, strike that, reverse it! Throw a jacket and some shoes on.. there is something i want to show you! xxx Look out for the gold!!'


The third clue lead Tina to the gold-wrapped present Craig left in the garden which finally revealed the thoughtful gift. 


Fans took to Instagram to gush over the musicians generosity and sweet gesture.

 Southampton born entertainer first came into the limelight in 1999 after appearing on the song Re-Wind by Artful Dodger. 

He released his first studio album, Born To Do it, in 2000 and went on to release another five in the years to come, selling over 15 million records worldwide. 

Earlier this year, the Grammy-award-nominee made a cameo appearance on the reality TV show Love Island, which left both the Islanders and viewers shocked.
