Jack Wilshere pays tribute to his friend following the death of his daughter

Jack Wilshere has paid an emotional tribute to his close friend Benik Afobe, after the former Arsenal striker announced the tragic death of his two-year-old daughter Amora.

Afobe, 26, confirmed via a statement on Sunday that his daughter had passed away after picking up an unexpected infection and being rushed to hospital.

The striker, who previously played for Arsenal, Wolves and Bournemouth, was absent from Bristol City's clash against Huddersfield on Saturday as a result of the family tragedy.

Taking to social media, Wilshere penned some heartfelt words for his friend, who he grew up with during his Arsenal youth days.

'Benik, my brother, my words will never mean enough to express how deeply sorry i am for your loss, and i know that no words will heal the pain in your hearts right now, just know i am here for you, Lois and your family always,' wrote Wilshere.

'You, Lois and Alba are our family. And Amora infectious smile will live on in our hearts forever. I love you my friend stay strong,' he added.
